Summer Teas for Anxiety Relief

In this week's podcast we're talking about our favourite herb teas for calming anxiety and/or a nervous stomach.

Why we Love Fennel

Fennel is a cooling spice that calms the mind and increases clarity. It relieves Pitta (see: Getting to Know Your Ayurvedic Body Type), and cleanses and cools the urinary system. Fennel also eases cramps and soothes the digestive system.

Try fennel tea half an hour after your lunch or evening meal to experience it's digestive benefits or any time during the day for a refreshing tea to balance Summer heat.

Mint & Fennel Tea Recipe

Fragrant, cooling and soothing for the mind, these two herbs are especially useful for keeping hydrated and relaxed in the summer season.

1)    Boil 1 cup of water

2)    Add 1 tsp each of dried mint leaves and whole fennel seeds to a flask or cup

3)    Cover and steep for 5-10 minutes

4)    Strain and let cool to a comfortable drinking temperature

5)    Add raw honey to taste (optional). Always add honey after the tea has cooled to preserve the healthful benefits of the honey which are impaired by heat.

For a ready prepared Summer blend we recommend Pukka Herbs Refresh Tea: organic peppermint, fennel & rose.

Pukka teas are available in the UK in most supermarkets and health stores, or online from PukkaHerbs.com in the USA Pukka Teas are available from Amazon.com
