What we're talking about in this episode:
What is Tapping?
EFT, now often simply called Tapping, stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and it works on the theory that whatever we are going through, there are unresolved emotions involved. Even for physical issues, it’s understood that any kind of emotional stress can hinder our natural healing potential.
Tapping is a description of the way EFT is used on the body's natural healing energy points - or meridian points.
Tapping has been around for twenty years now, but is derived from the healing science of acupuncture which is thousands of years old. This more modern and easily self-applied technique is scientifically proven to rewire the brain by sending calming signals to the stress center of the brain, allowing both the body and mind to release limitations from negative experiences, emotions, anxiety, unwanted thoughts and much more.
EFT works on the theory that whatever we are going through, there are unresolved emotions involved. Even for physical issues, it’s understood that any kind of emotional stress can hinder our natural healing potential.
EFT Tapping is endorsed by personal development leaders like Wayne Dyer, Iyanla Vanzant, Louise Hay, Kris Carr and many more.
Anxiety Slayer and EFT
We get lots of questions about overcoming the fear of anxiety suddenly flaring, or what to do when anxiety eats into your confidence. And also questions about support for facing challenging life events, or perceived personal limitations. Time and time again we recommend learning EFT Tapping and this is the perfect event to help you get started.
We have been sharing how to use EFT Tapping for calming anxiety since the day our podcast began 8 years ago through our EFT for Anxiety Relief Course and many posts and podcasts. Ananga was one of the first people in the UK to write a book about EFT Tapping and teach it at public health shows.
How can EFT Tapping help calm anxiety?
EFT is a powerful self-help tool. When we first started teaching it in the UK our tagline was “emotional freedom at your fingertips” because once you’ve learned EFT you can use it anywhere to help you feel more calm and in control and it is literally at your fingertips. By tuning in to what’s on your mind and using your fingers to tap a special sequence of meridian points on your own body you can quickly start to feel calmer and more in control of whatever is troubling you.
The theory of EFT is that whatever we are experiencing - for example; anxiety, panic attacks, fear of driving, PTSD, is caused by a disruption in the energy system of our body. It’s like a fuse blows in response to a stressor, or traumatic event and it leaves a disruption in that energy circuit in our body which drives the unwanted thoughts, sensations and anxiety we experience.
Tapping helps clear that energy disruption, and when it does the emotional disturbance we are feeling naturally subsides.
There are now hundreds of stories of people using EFT to stop panic attacks, friends helping each other, there’s a great story of a husband helping his wife after she burst into the bedroom in the middle of the night having a terrible panic attack.
Ananga: In my experience EFT helps anxiety in two key ways:
- It works by calming the energy disruption that’s driving anxiety as we just discussed
- It gives you your power back. Once you try it and feel it working, you know you have something you can use anywhere and anytime to stop anxiety building into an episode. One of the biggest fears of anxiety sufferers is that it might suddenly flare without warning. With EFT Tapping you can stop it, and once you know how to stop it you can start reclaiming your life.
What kind of anxiety can it help with?
Any kind of anxiety!
- General anxiety
- unwanted thoughts
- health anxiety
- anxiety about social events, or work
- panic attacks
- and more
